Isle of Wight and Surry county schools, and Isle of Wight Academy, will close for a second consecutive day on Thursday, Jan. 23, due to icy road conditions.

Wednesday’s snowfall  left roughly an inch of accumulation and brought temperatures that never rose above freezing.

“Due to the condition of roads throughout the county, and the continued freezing temperatures, Isle of Wight County schools and offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, for all students and staff,” IWCS announced Wednesday evening. “This includes all after-school and evening activities.
