Cut through the jargon

Editor, The Smithfield Times:
It seems the English language is being supplanted by jargon in the world of politics. Jargon is “words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or group and are difficult for others to understand.”
Some of my least favorite lately are:
- rigged
- woke
- cancel
- critical race theory
- socialism to describe social programs
Let’s speak plain English so we can all understand each other, and I will go first.
I will be voting Democratic this November because the Democratic Party’s main focus is to help all citizens achieve fulfilled lives! I will be voting for:
- Michael Drewry for the 64th House District in General Assembly
- Terry McAuliffe for governor
- Haya Ayala for lieutenant governor
- Mark Herring for attorney general
Please help to protect our democracy. Please make sure that you and everyone you know votes!
