Elaine Snead Livermon

Elaine Snead Livermon, 83, of Smithfield, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Snead and Lena Watts Snead. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Ray Livermon; her sons, Douglas Lee Livermon (Teresa) and Brian Keith Livermon; and her grandchildren, Ashley, Evan, David, Hannah and Jacob.
Mrs. Livermon graduated from Bluefield College and then Radford College with a degree in sociology. She had a rewarding career with Newport News Public Schools, where she started as a teacher’s assistant, and finished her career in the special education department. She also coordinated busing for the students. In her retirement, she worked for Hallmark, helping set up store displays. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Suffolk. She sang in choirs in college and every church that they attended. She loved singing in her church choirs and was also an avid arts and crafts maker.
There will be a funeral service held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1885 Bridge Road, Suffolk, VA 23433, with a reception immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be held in Peninsula Memorial Park at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431.
