Market math makes no sense

Editor, The Smithfield Times:
Most citizens of the historic district of Smithfield are concerned about the cost of the proposed farmers market at the Pierceville location “The Grange at 10Main.”
The town only generated $28,000, roughly, in revenue in taxes last year from the market, according to information presented at a recent Town Council meeting. We’re being asked to contribute almost $4 million in response to a developer who will only contribute $1 million for the purpose of his own development, his interests and not that of our town as a whole?
That does not make economic sense and it’s a front for something else.
