The expansion of singer-songwriter Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library into Isle of Wight County kicked off on Feb. 18 with a celebration at The Smithfield Center, where children from Smithfield and surrounding areas received their first free book. Parton’s Imagination Library mails free, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth through age 5. Smithfield Foods sponsored the expansion in partnership with the DeGood Foundation, a 2017-founded nonprofit that’s working to expand Parton’s Imagination Library across Hampton Roads.
