Helicopter crash in Surry County injures two

A helicopter contracted by Dominion Energy crashed in Surry County on Aug. 5, injuring its two occupants.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. in a wooded area near White Marsh Road, which is near the Isle of Wight County line.
The helicopter was a privately-owned Hughes 369 Delta operated by Haverfield Aviation.
Both occupants have been identified and transported to Medical College of Virginia in Richmond with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. State Police have not released the occupants’ names.
The Federal Aviation Administration has begun an investigation. The State Police investigation is also ongoing. The National Transportation Safety Board was also notified.
