Letter – Supervisors fail citizenry

Editor, The Smithfield Times:
The future is dark for Isle of Wight County. Most residents had hoped that we could hold back the relentless approval of housing developments in the county, but we were kidding ourselves.
Let us be clear. Our elected representatives are not interested in the will of the people. They do not care about our quality of life and the tranquility we want for our community.
With the approval of the Sweetwater housing development, Supervisor Renee Rountree proved once again to be a menace. For those of you exiting Fairway Drive, think of her often as you wait for the heavy traffic to clear on the Route 10 bypass.
As far as Supervisor Rudolph Jefferson is concerned, I have always liked him personally, but he has proved to be no longer interested in representing the will of the people. In the case of Supervisor William McCarty, I hope he serves his flock better than he serves the citizens of Isle of Wight.
Remember Rountree, Jefferson and McCarty at election time. Remember what they have done to our quality of life.
