The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for central Isle of Wight County and Suffolk through 4:15 p.m.

According to the NWS, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Kings Fork near downtown Suffolk at 3:34 p.m. moving north northwest at 35 mph.

The NWS is advising are residents to shelter in a basement or in an interior room not he lowest floor of a sturdy building. Anyone outdoors or in a vehicle should move to the closest substantial shelter to protect themselves from flying debris.
