Smithfield’s Bacon, Bourbon & Music Fest returned to Windsor Castle Park on Oct. 5. Tickets sold out, bringing approximately 3,200 to the manor house grounds. Attendees received a half-pound of bacon, courtesy of Smithfield Foods, and could choose from dozens of bourbons and beers.

The event is one of three annual festivals Smithfield VA Events hosts on the park grounds to benefit other local nonprofit organizations. According to Gina Ippolito, festival director, the beneficiaries of this year’s Bacon, Bourbon & Music Fest will include $10,000 to The Genieve Shelter, $5,000 to Girls on the Run and $5,000 to the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program’s Food For Thought literacy program. The remaining roughly $60,000 will be divided among 50 volunteer organizations and nonprofits selected by the Smithfield VA Events board and “SuperStar” and individual volunteers. Ippolito estimated donations from this year’s festival totaled between $80,000 and $85,000.
