A motorcyclist died from injuries he sustained in a Nov. 2 crash on Carrollton Boulevard.
Virginia State Police say Zachary T. Ross of Flat Rock, North Carolina, was traveling northbound on Carrollton Boulevard on his motorcycle on Nov. 2 when an Acura MDX pulled out of Omera Drive into Ross’s path.
The Virginia Department of Transportation assisted with diverting traffic from the southbound lanes of Route 17 onto Benns Church Boulevard.
The driver of the Acura, identified as Susan G. Herrin of Suffolk, was charged with failing to yield right-of-way.
Ross was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, where according to police he died on Nov. 3.
A GoFundMe.com fundraiser to help Ross’s family with funeral costs and other expenses had raised $3,495 toward a $10,000 goal from 69 donations as of Nov. 5. It’s organized by Allie Joyner, a friend of Ross’s mother, Christy, and stepfather, Jake Snyder.
