State Police, Surry Sheriff’s Office seek missing senior citizen

Virginia State Police and the Surry County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a missing senior citizen.

State Police issued a senior alert on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office at 10 p.m. on Nov. 18 for 81-year-old George Randolph Hankins.

Hankins, is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches in height, weighing 230 pounds with blue eyes, who recently trimmed his gray beard and shaved his head bald. He was last seen at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at his residence on Deer Ridge Road in Spring Grove.

According to State Police, Hankins suffers from a cognitive impairment and his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety.

Hankins is possibly wearing a Carhartt camouflage jacket and soiled blue sweatpants. He is presumed to be on foot and not in a vehicle.
