One driver is dead and another has life-threatening injuries following a collision on Foursquare Road.

According to Virginia State Police, 44-year-old Tariq Rashad Holloman of Newport News was traveling southbound in a 2006 Dodge Chrysler sedan when he crossed the double solid lines of the road into the northbound lane, striking a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 29-year-old Amee Hall Riste head-on.

When police arrived at approximately 4:52 p.m. on Nov. 23 they found Holloman deceased. Riste was airlifted to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital. The collision occurred in the 11000 block north of Tings Road.

Police say speed was a contributing factor in the crash. It was unknown as of 7:37 a.m. on Nov. 24 whether alcohol also played a role.
