After-school extracurricular activities and athletics scheduled for Jan. 10 will continue as planned, but any activities scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, are canceled due to the expected snowfall, Isle of Wight County Schools announced at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

For any away games and travel outside of the county, all IWCS buses must be off the road and parked no later than 9 p.m. Friday evening to ensure students and staff have enough time to travel home safely after returning to their school from away games, IWCS announced.

The most recent forecast from the National Weather Service’s Wakefield station calls for Isle of Wight County to see three to four inches of snow accumulation starting after 7 p.m. Friday and continuing into Saturday morning as a winter storm system moves in from the southwest.

Parts of Surry County located within an expected band of more significant accumulation are expected to see four to six inches of snow.
