Editor, The Smithfield Times:

There were two well-written letters to the editor last week, by Dr. Daniel Shaye (“Racial distrust plagues Surry”) and Helen Eggleston (“Surry citizens feel ignored”). 

Daniel and Helen wrote, obviously by the titles, of strife with the Surry County Board of Supervisors. Stealing from Shakespeare: Something is rotten in the county of Surry, and it emanates from our arrogant Board of Supervisors! They need to do a “pop check” and actually listen to the wonderful citizens of Surry County. 

Amy Drewry has been beating her head against the wall — a wall of resistance! She does talk and listen to her constituents. The board and county administrator need to quit being so trifling, and could do so well to follow Drewry’s example of leadership.
