We are Smithfield residents and the parents of students in IOWC schools and we enthusiastically endorse Kirstin Cook for School Board.
Kirstin has been an active volunteer in our schools for the past eight years. Her involvement in the schools, coupled with her background as an educator, provides a valuable and unique perspective to school district leadership. She has served on several PTA boards and she is currently President of the Education Foundation. Kirstin has often acted as parent advocate during the school budget process and has served on several advisory boards at the school administration’s central office.
Kirstin has the educational and leadership background needed to tackle the issues we face in the near future, including a growing population and aging school infrastructure. As a former classroom teacher, she understands the importance of morale on teaching and learning. She will work to create an environment where our teachers feel valued professionally, and are well trained to teach what is expected of them.
Throughout her experience in volunteer leadership roles, and during this campaign, Kirstin has been talking to parents, teachers, administrators, and citizens about what they think is working and where we can do better. She will continue to seek out opinions and information and use that knowledge to make informed decisions.
We need Kirstin Cook’s kind of commitment and experience on our school board.
