Political correctness is not my major strength and my memory is not what it used to be, however, I recall the election four years ago when the good citizens of this county threw the majority of the Board of Supervisors out of office — this being due to their spending habits and lack of caring about the citizens needs and wants. That board extended the contract of the then superintendent of county public schools before leaving office instead of letting the new board do what they wanted to do.

Now, I learn that the current Board of Supervisors is giving the County Administrator, who is resigning, six months pay at the end of her employment. That equates to give or take $75,000. This person submitted her resignation and for that she gets six months pay. My question to the board is why?

The majority of the incoming board has indicated on more than one occasion that their understanding of the opinion of the majority of the county citizens was the roadmap the administrator was taking us on had too many curves with too high of a speed limit, and needed to be replaced and that they (the new board) would act on it. The paper I read indicated that current administrator “could see the writing on the wall” with new supervisory board majority and was resigning. This leads one to think that a firing would take place soon after the new board is seated.

Again, why are the county citizens being forced to pay taxes only to see them used in this manner. Maybe that is what outgoing boards do — subtly stick it to the citizens for removing them from office.
