Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 as amended that the Planning Commission of the Town of Windsor will hold a public hearing on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chamber on the matter described as follows:

 

 

 

POULTRY IN THE A-1 AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT- The following amendments are proposed to permit the raising of poultry in the A-1 Agricultural District as designated in the Town of Windsor Land Development Ordinance (underlined sentences are the proposed amended sections to be added to or replace sections of the Land Development Ordinance) ;

 

 

 

 

§160.53(A) Permitted Uses in the A-1 Agricultural District

 

 

 

“(2) The raising of cattle, sheep, and other domesticated livestock including

 

non-indigenous livestock such as alpaca and llamas but does not include intensive farms as defined under the Code of Virginia. The raising of poultry, is permitted provided the A-1 Agricultural parcel or tract exceeds five acres and all pens and houses for poultry are at a minimum of fifty (50) feet from the property lines or the parcel or tract.”

“(12) Swine raising and/or processing of swine and processing of poultry.”

 

 

 

And repealing existing section which read §160(C)(12) “Swine and/or poultry raising and/or processing.

SURRY COUNTY PUBLIC NOTICE

 

 

 

Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Surry County will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration AND INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide a preponderance of the evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.

The County of Surry, Virginia will accept sealed proposals until 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 for Pre-Planning Studies and Architectural Services for a proposed 100,000 SF Community Recreational Center project, located in Surry County, VA. RFP responses will be received at the Surry County Administration Building, County Administrator’s Office, ATT: Mr. Tyrone Franklin, Surry County Administrator, P. O. Box 65, 45 School Street, Surry, VA. 23885.

 

The County is soliciting proposals from qualified architectural-engineering firms (hereinafter called the “firm”) interested in providing services during the Site Selection/Evaluation, Market Studies, Programming, Planning and Schematic Design Phases of the Project. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is part of a competitive procurement process intended to obtain the highest quality of services at the most reasonable price. Copies of this RFP are available at e-virginia.com or from the County’s web site: www.surrycountyva.gov. A non-mandatory Pre-Proposal conference is scheduled for 10:00am on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Surry County Administration Building, 45 School Street, Surry County, VA

 

 

 

Offerors must submit five (5) copies of their proposal to the office of the Surry County Administrator. All copies shall be signed in ink by an authorized principal of the firm. Proposals shall be submitted in sealed envelopes by the specified time and date. Proposals received after that time will be rejected. Procurement of services by this RFP shall be in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act. Since this is a Request for Proposals for professional services under the Virginia Public Procurement Act, the proposals should not contain any information regarding the cost of the design contract. Surry County reserves the right to request clarification of information and/or additional information from one or more submitting firms.

 

 

 

The Architect/Engineer is prohibited from engaging in employment discrimination and must comply fully with the provisions of Section 2.2-4311 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended. Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 to consider for recommendation to the Board of Supervisors the following applications:

 

The application of Ray and Lisa Betterton for an exception to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Ordinance. Specifically, under Section 4002, to allow encroachment of 62 feet into the 100-foot-wide Resource Protection Area buffer to build a single-family home at 13604 Bowling Green Road, Windsor, in the Windsor Election District.

 

 

 

An ordinance to amend and reenact the following section of the Isle of Wight County Code, Appendix B, Zoning: Article V, Supplementary Use Regulations for Residential Use Types, Section 5-5002.I (Home Occupation, Type I and II) in order to allow “Gunsmith” as a Type II Home Occupation with a Conditional Use Permit.

 

 

 

Copies of said applications are on file in the Department of Planning and Zoning at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex, Isle of Wight, Virginia, and are available for public examination.
