Benjamin Edward Major Jr. passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 in Riverside Regional with his family by his side.  Ben had a love for boats, sports and family.

Ben, a master boat builder, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and he leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Fay Bennett Major; children, Cheryl Jeffers (Scott), Pixie Jones (Windy), Ben Major III (Laura) and Gene Major (Julie); nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sisters, Trudy Stevenson (Clint) and Martha Lou Garrett (Wayne).

A Life Celebration service was held at Smithfield Baptist Church on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Donald Rhoton officiating. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center. Burial will be private.
