The Surry County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 7:00pm in the General District Courtroom, 45 School Street, Surry, VA 23883 to hear citizen comments on proposed Ordinance 2017-01 to provide an exemption from personal property and real estate taxes pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia for Dogs Deserve Better, Inc. The assessed value of the real property owned by Dogs Deserve Better, Inc. (Tax Map Parcels 54-27A and 54-7A) is $751,700.00 and the annual real estate property tax is $5,337.07. The current assessed value of the tangible personal property owned by Dogs Deserve Better, Inc. is $30,125.00 and the annual tangible personal property tax is $1,205.00. A copy of the ordinance may be obtained through the County Administrator’s Office, 45 School Street, P.O. Box 65, Surry, VA 236883.

AMENDMENT OF ZONING ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Sections 15.2-2204 and 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia, (1950), as amended, that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia to consider the amendment of certain provisions of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance. The proposed amendment of the Zoning Ordinance is amendment and revision of the following article of the ordinance:
The proposed amendment affects Sections A. and C. of the Article and expands the permitted uses in the district to include retail sales. SPECIAL USE PERMIT
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the application of Cabco Properties, LLC, owner, for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.A., Section C-1., and Article 6 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve the subdivision of a lot to contain 2.22 acres for use as a single family residence with temporary private water and sewer systems.
