NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE is hereby given that the Surry County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 7:00pm in the General District Courtroom of the Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia 23883, to hear public comments and consider the following Conditional Use Permit Applications. Copies of the applications are available for review and inspection by the public in the Office of the County Administrator, Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
CUP-2017-01-Application by Colonial Trail W Solar, LLC for a Conditional Use to permit a Utility Service/Major, as permitted by Article III, Section 3-302 Permitted Uses, (c) of the Surry County Zoning Ordinance. The subject property is irregularly shaped, zoned Agriculture Rural District (A-R), and consists of 1,241+acres. The property fronts on the North side of Colonial Trail West/SR 10 for 2,600’+ and the West side of Hollybush Road/SR 618 for 3,350’+ and has an average depth of 10,700’+. The subject property is identified by Tax Parcel No. 26-4.
CUP-2017-02-Application by Tidewater Dirt Riders for a Conditional Use to permit a multi-year Commercial Outdoor Recreational event, as permitted by Article III, Section 3-302, Permitted Uses(c) of the Surry County Zoning Ordinance. The subject property is zoned, Agriculture Rural District (A-R), and consists of 225+ acres. CUP-2017-04-Application by A. Seward for a Conditional Use to permit a multi-year Commercial Outdoor Recreational event, as permitted by Article III Section 3-302, Permitted Uses(c) of the Surry County Zoning Ordinance. The subject property is
zoned Agricultural Rural District (A-R), consists of 200+ acres, located on the south side of Colonial Trail W/SR10, beginning 500’+ East of the intersection of Rolfe Hwy/SR 10 and Goodson Path/SR 660, with 600’+ of frontage along Colonial Trail W/SR 10 and average depth of 4,000’+. Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 to consider for recommendation to the Board of Supervisors the following applications:
The application of William Edwards, Southern Casting, LLC, owner and applicant, for a Conditional Use Permit on a 6.99 acre parcel, Tax Parcel Identification Number 69E-01-001, located at 33211 Lees Mill Road. The purpose of the application is to allow for a concrete and asphalt plant on a parcel zoned General Industrial.
The application of Preston and Valerie Artis, owners, for a Conditional Use Permit on a 12.6 acre parcel, located at 18442 Muddy Cross Drive. The purpose of the application is to allow for a home occupation which exceeds the requirements of the zoning ordinance.
The application of Graham Real Estate, LLC., applicant, and R.T. Arnold and Margaret D. Harper, Trustee, owners, for a Conditional Use Permit on 8.08 out of 15.27 acres of land located on Carrollton Boulevard west of the intersection of Laurelwood Drive, with Tax Parcel Identification Numbers 34A-01-B001, 34A-01-E002, 34A-01-E007, 34A-01-E008, 34A-01-E009, 34A-01-E010, 34A-01-E011. The purpose of the application is to allow for the conditional use of mini-warehouse to be permitted on the property.
An ordinance to amend and reenact the following section of the Isle of Wight County Code, Appendix B, Zoning: Article V, Supplementary Use Regulations; Section 5000.G, Walls and Fences; in order to provide an exemption for fences or walls existing prior to the adoption of the zoning ordinance effective August 30, 2005, on a property designated as a National Historic Landmark located in a designated historic overlay district.
Copies of said applications are on file in the Department of Planning and Zoning at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex, Isle of Wight, Virginia, and are available for public examination.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 16-9 of the Isle of Wight County Code, that the unknown owner or owners of the following described vessels, currently docked at Tyler’s Beach Boat Harbor, are hereby ordered to remove said vessels from the boat harbor no later than April 15, 2017. The vessels are described as (1) a 26 foot sailboat; (2) a 16 foot open runabout with small console; (3) a 25 foot cabin cruiser; (4) a 40 foot deadrise (no engine or cab); and (5) a 14 foot fiberglass sailboat. In the event said vessels are not removed from the boat harbor by April 15, 2017, the Isle of Wight County Department of Parks and Recreation shall be authorized to remove and dispose of said vessels as authorized by law.

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will at the regular meeting of the Town Council in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. consider an appeal of a Board of Historic and Architectural Review decision regarding an application on behalf of Mary D. Crocker for the demolition of landmark historic structures pursuant to Article 3.M., Section E. of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve the demolition of the single-family dwelling and all outbuildings on her property. Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. CHANGE IN ZONING CLASSIFICATION
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Sections 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, (1950), as amended, that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the application of L & L Land Development, LLC, owner, and Charles D. Layman, President of Goodwill of Central and Coastal Va., Inc., applicant, for an amendment to the current zoning ordinance to change the zoning classification of certain property from Community Conservation District (C-C) to Highway Retail Commercial (HR-C)
The property which is the subject of this application contains approximately 2.125+/- acres and is part of a larger tract of land containing 165.36 acres, more or less, which tract is identified as Tax Map Parcel 32-01-005. The parcel is located on the west side of Benn’s Church Boulevard between Turner Drive and Cypress Run Drive. The proposed change in zoning classification for a portion of Parcel 32-01-005 to Highway Retail Commercial (HR-C) would permit the construction of a retail store, including the receipt of donations, sale of new and consignment goods, employee training and related uses (Goodwill Industries outlet). The parcel’s current zoning designation is Community Conservation District (C-C).
