Bruce Orman Cobb

Bruce Orman Cobb, 80 of Smithfield passed away peacefully on Monday May 1, 2017 in Riverside Hospital.  Bruce had retired after many years in sales with Proctor and Gamble.  After retirement he moved to Smithfield, a community that he dearly loved.  He enjoyed retirement and spent countless hours serving the community.  Bruce was on the Isle of Wight County Board of Equalization, a volunteer with the Isle of Wight Crime Line, the Isle of Wight County Sherriff’s Office, Gimme Shelter and many youth sports and events in the county.  He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and working at the Cypress Creek Golf Club. Bruce is survived by his son, Mark Cobb of Hanover; a niece Jo Carolyn Jones of Georgia; and his extended family, B. W. White and his wife Sharon, and Barbara Spagnolli and her husband Don, along with many other special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 40 years, Ila Jean Cobb, and his parents, Ernest Ralph Cobb and Etta Dover Cobb. A service in celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial to follow at a later date in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover.  The family will receive friends following the chapel service.
