Edith Anne Dunkley Morris Branum

HENRICO — Edith Anne Dunkley Morris Branum of Henrico, and formally of Powhatan, went to be with her heavenly Father on Aug. 8, 2017. She was born in Richmond on May 4, 1925 to Charles Stevens Dunkley and Charlotte Edmonds Dunkley.

She was the widow of Mickey Morris and Roy D. Branum. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Dunkley, and sister, Eloise Maxey; her daughter Charlotte Johnson; and her two grandchildren, Lisa and Lori Johnson.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Gale and her 27-year companion, Mike Delk, and Fran Brown and her husband, Buzz Brown; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dunkley; son-in-law, Kenneth Johnson; three grandchildren, Paula Lowe, Brian Gale and Mickey Brown and his wife, Kimberly; 10 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren; five nephews, six nieces; and cousins, Bob and Mary Jones.

Edith was a long time and faithful member of May Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school when her children were young. She made sure her girls were active in their church with the GA’s, choir and playing the organ at May Memorial. She was also a switchboard operator. 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 11 a.m. at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. She will be buried following the service at Powhatan Community Cemetery
