John R. Hardy

SUFFOLK—John R. Hardy, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Nov. 9, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on Nov. 17, 1947 in Hampton. He was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1966. He married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte, who preceded him in death, as well as his infant daughter, Amy.

John was a proud Army 9th Infantry veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Isle of Wight County Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was employed as a store manager for Lowes and later had a career with Anheuser Busch, from where he retired.

John is survived by his loving fiancé, Sandy Lemaire; his daughter, Angela H. Wilson and her husband, Joey; his son, John Hardy Jr. and his wife, Amy and grandsons, Joshua, Ethan and Aubrey. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother, Eddie and sister, Jeannie, along with many other family members and friends. 

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, 11 a.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News with military honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad.
