George Thomas Cofer Jr., 77, of Smithfield passed away on Dec. 4, 2019 at his residence.  Mr. Cofer was the son of the late George Thomas Cofer Sr. and Dorothy Dean McEnerney Cofer.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, June Elizabeth Parker Cofer; daughters, Sherry C. Oliver (J.F) and Amy C. Epps (Lewis); grandchildren, Jordan, Brittany and Lindsay; sister, Dorothy C. Lewis (Ron); brother, William A. Cofer (Joann).  He retired after many years with Smithfield Foods and was a member of Isle of Wight Hunt Club.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 11a.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial to follow in Mill Swamp Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431 or the Isle of Wight Humane Society, www.iowchs.org.
