CARROLLTON — Ruby Lee Strong, 96, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020. Born in Dallas, Texas on Aug. 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Royal Arthur Strong and Ruby Lee Wickline Strong. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Billy Strong, and her infant son, Raymond Lee. She has lived in Carrollton since 2006.
Ruby and Billy met when she was just a freshman in college. They married soon after, and their marriage grew during the times of World War II and the Korean War. They lived in many locations in the United States; as well as, Japan, where Robert was born, and Pairs, France, where Carol was born. As a Daughter of the American Revolution, Ruby was fascinated by history and loved visiting historic courthouses, especially those across Texas. She loved the outdoors and was fascinated by all things natural. She will always be remembered fondly for her delight in the simple things, such as, a perfectly ripe persimmon and no pet could be better than a pug.
She leaves behind her sons, Billy Gene Strong and Robert Arthur Strong and their wives; her daughter, Carol Weidman and her husband; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She will be joining Billy at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Billy and Ruby specifically reserved a place at the back, where she can watch the birds. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
