Nancy Turner Bloxom, 83, known to those who loved her as “Grammie,” of Henrico, died peacefully on March 16, 2020 with both of her loving daughters by her side. She was reunited with the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Jack W. Bloxom; and her parents, Lloyd L. and Edna H. Turner. She is survived by two daughters, Nanette Bloxom and Jackie Bloxom Hunt, a son-in-law, Stuart, two grandchildren, Kaylen and Austin, and two great-grandchildren, Aceley Rea and Opie Dallon. Also left to cherish her memory is a much-loved sister and her husband, Betty T. and Marvin M. Pulley; and nephew, Vin Pulley, of Windsor.

“Grammie” grew up in Isle of Wight County, graduating from Smithfield High School in 1955.  She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1959 and worked many years as a teacher in the Henrico area elementary schools although most knew her to be a mom extraordinaire. She never missed a dance recital, Girl Scout meeting or swim meet. Once her girls were grown, she “graduated” to being a Grammie and went to football games, dive meets and cheerleading competitions. She extended that role sharing her love of baking with Aceley and snuggling up with Op to read children’s books. She loved to travel and went on many cruises with family and friends. She was an active member of Derbyshire Baptist Church for many years, often volunteering in the main office and participating with the annual Back-to-School drive for the Richmond area communities in need.

In light of recent health concerns, instead of a gathering the family will be posting a Celebration of Life, photo and memory gallery on social media. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of support and love. Those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
